myzephyr's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Charity walkDate: Tuesday, Feb. 07, 2006 Time:4:22 p.m. Hello, if there's anyone out there. Hmmph, so about 3 weeks have gone since we've been back from Malaysia. What's been happening? Well, I had some temping work most of last week at Oxford University again, dealing with academic applicants' cover letters and curiculum vitaes. I think I learnt soooo much about what happens after the application deadlines passed. The work I did was confidential but let's just say that it's important that you put as much information as you can in your cover letter and cvs when you apply, so that you will qualify for an interview. And next week, for a month, I will do more temping work at the university. Oh, I went for an interview today! At one of the colleges at Oxford Uni. I could have performed better but I am hoping that I won't get it as there is a second interview next week. I HATE second interviews! By the way, Hubby and three of his work collegues have signed up to do an Oxfam charity walk in July! I was soooooo annoyed when I found out, because the walk is held a week before we fly out to Malaysia and I don't want him to have blisters and achy legs! The walk is a 100km walk. That's like from here to London! Best time anyone has ever done is 24 hours, so you can guess how looooooooong the walk will be for amateurs like my hubby. I will be in the support team (where you make a stand and give out water, etc) for his group and last weekend he already bought some special socks for long distance walking. Soon, he will buy a £100 pair of walking shoes, a £40 special backpack (leaves your back exposed so no sores from carrying the bag...WOW (<--note: this is sarcasm), a special waterbag with a long straw (£14), walking sticks (£20-30) and a headtorch (£20). Hmm, seems like it's very pricey, this CHARITY walk. And they still need to raise £1000, if not they can't do the walk. Never mind. It IS for charity. So he's started to practise and on Saturdays and Sundays we have been going for long walks by the river. It's really good, actually. I'm happy to be his training partner...I could do some leg exercises, they have been pretty flabby recently! Mmmm, do you think he'll start to lose weight and gain more muscle? *drools* I think I'll like this charity walk *winks*
